Precision Engineering has been building 1/16th tractors since 1989 but most collectors have never heard of us.

Hi friends and collectors,

Precision Engineering has done very little advertising over the past 16 years. Our backlog has always been more than we could keep up with, so we have done almost no advertising. This year we are going to get our name and product out to the customer. Now that we are settled into our larger building we can run more than one project at a time. We have 3 floors in our building and are using the first 2 floors in order to keep up with the demand for our tractors. Precision Engineering has 2 full time employees and 3 part time employees. We can not speed up the process of “hand making” our tractors but with the additional space we have became much more efficient. From start to finish, the only parts we buy are the tires. The prototype, molds, and all tooling for our tractors are made right here at our shop. We are very proud of the fact that “we do it all”. There are very few people in business today that can say that. What this means to us and our customers is that we control every aspect of production and don’t have to rely on someone else’s quality or I should say, “the lack of it”. We control the quality from start to finish and it is reflected in every tractor that we build.

Precision Engineering plans to attend the November Dyersville show and The St. Louis show in February as well as a few other selected shows. Call us or check our web site for additional shows. We typically use the shows to deliver pre-ordered tractors and showcase our new products. We hope to eventually have all our tractors available right at the shows.

 Thanks for your interest,

 Don Trout,   President

In the Beginning...

Precision Engineering was conceived in 1983 by owner Don Trout. The company was entering into the production of high performance after market parts in the snowmobile industry.  As luck would have it Ohio had a shift in climate which made research and development of such parts difficult at best.

Don was born and raised around farm equipment and has a passion for it. With his knowledge of manufacturing and custom machining, Don changed venues and began the production of tractors. Just ask Don a question about any 4 wheel drive tractors and chances are he will have an answer for you.  Armed with this knowledge Don set out to make scale replicas of tractors with only the highest quality. He takes pain staking efforts to insure that every detail is looked after.

The company had it humble beginnings in the family garage.  Soon it needed to add space, so the family basement became part of the operation. As the company grew and began to add employees it became necessary to increase the amount of production and the size of it facilities once again. In the year 2000 Precision Engineering purchased an old building and moved into it's new home. With this move all facets of the production process, storage, production, painting and shipping all improved and are now housed in one spacious location.
